German Innovation Institute for Sustainability and Digitalisation (diind) honours future-oriented companies

Great joy at SchahlLED Lighting GmbH: The specialist for sensor-controlled LED lighting systems based in Unterschleißheim near Munich has now been honoured with the diind Award in the "Business Innovator" 2025 category by the German Innovation Institute for Sustainability and Digitalisation (diind).

The award, presented by the German Innovation Institute together with DUP Unternehmer Magazin, was presented to SchahlLED Managing Director Carsten Weber by former Federal Minister of Justice and Economics Brigitte Zypries. The occasion was the presentation of this year's diind awards at a major event in Essen. SchahlLED Lighting is the first company in the lighting industry to be honoured by the German Innovation Institute. This year's prize in the "Business Innovator" category was also awarded to two other companies at the gala.

As a "Business Innovator", the diind Institute recognises German companies that are characterised by proactivity, commitment and future orientation. For the award sponsors, business innovators are "pioneers who create a clear competitive advantage with innovative products, intensive commitment, transparent behaviour and open communication". The award from a high-calibre jury was preceded by a two-stage assessment process and nomination by the Innovation Institute.

"We are delighted that our SmartScan technology with its significant energy savings has now also been recognised as outstanding and innovative by an independent institute," said SchahlLED Managing Director Carsten Weber on the occasion of the award.

"A large part of this award is due to our colleagues at our parent company Thorlux Lighting in the UK for the great development of our SmartScan system, which has been successful on the market." The SmartScan lighting management system and luminaires are sold worldwide under the Thorlux brand name.

Incidentally, SchahlLED Lighting can answer the question posed by patron and former Federal Minister Brigitte Zypries at the award ceremony as to whether luminaire systems from such an innovative company would not also be of interest to the German Bundestag with a resounding yes. In fact, Thorlux brand luminaires are installed in the Jakob-Kaiser-Haus of the German Bundestag.
