CASE STUDY

Modernisation of a large logistics facility with intelligent lighting

LOCATION

Stuttgart, Germany

BSH is part of Bosch, a leading multinational engineering and technology company of industrial, automotive, energy and consumer technology appliances. With major logistical operations globally, efficient logistics and reducing CO2 emmisions are of key importance of the group.

The existing facility of BSH had over 2,000 low quality fluorescent lamps installed with an annual energy usage of 1,366,455 kWh per year. This resulting in a high electricity bill and significant maintenance costs given high frequency of defaults and short lifetime of lamps. The fluorescent lamps were always fully illuminated, despite the fact that the complimentary analysis of SchahlLED showed the requirement of lighting was only between 7.3% and 19.2% of the time after reviewing the presence activity of the facility. By using our smart sensor driven intelligent lighting lights are automatically dimmed when not needed.

Solution
The state-of-the art intelligent lighting solution of SchahlLED resulted in a 1.172.145 kWh reduction in annual energy usage, an 85.8% reduction in energy costs with higher quality lighting in place.

In addition to significantly improved lighting output resulting in a safer and more pleasant working environment the intelligent lighting solution provided ensures minimisation of maintenance requirements. Reducing the amount of lamps required from c. 2,000 to only 750 lights, with an amortisation period of 20 years instead of replacing every other year the existing lights.

" SchahlLED has proven to be a trusted partner for us and has delivered on its promises of energy cost reduction due to its magnificent lighting solutions "
